One of the newer and less well-known treks in the Everest area is the Classic Everest Base Camp Trek via Pikey Peak. This is a 22 days trek which takes us to the summit of Pikey and onwards to Kalapathhar through the classic trail of Mount Everest. Although equally adventurous and beautiful as the classic EBC trek, this trek takes a slight detour of Pikey Peak before heading on to the Everest Base Camp. Pikey Peak is located at an altitude of 4,065m, from where you can see the breathtaking views of the surroundings as well as the mighty Mount Everest. Before arriving at the 5,365-meter Everest Base Camp, the walk will pass by a number of other breathtaking vistas. The last endpoint of the Classic Everest Base Camp with Pikey Peak Trek, Kalapathar 5545 meters above sea level, will be the highest point of the trek.

The trek is best suited for the adventure seekers who want to explore the unexplored and enjoy the unspoiled nature to the very core. The best opportunity to observe village life in a remote area of Nepal is through this hike. With the help of our knowledgeable guides and porters, you can also experience the best of Nepal, which will undoubtedly make your journey even more enjoyable.

Before beginning the Classic Everest Base Camp journey with Pikey Peak, hikers must be in excellent physical condition because the altitude will be above 5000 meters. All travelers should engage in some light physical activity three to four months before their voyage. Even though there will be some difficulties along the route, once you have had the local cuisine and drink and had the chance to take in the spectacular surroundings, the trek will have been worthwhile.

The journey to Dhap village from the magnificent metropolis of Kathmandu begins the trek. After that, it gently climbs to Japre before continuing on to Pikey Base Camp. The walk continues to Loding, a lovely town in the Solukhumbu area, after climbing the Pikey Summit. We arrive in Namche Bazaar, a well-liked location also referred to as the escape from Everest, after passing through numerous stopping locations along the way. We go through numerous stunning monasteries, including Dingboche and Tengboche, before arriving at Lobuche, the final stop before arriving at the Everest Base Camp. We take a flying return to Kathmandu after carefully descending to Lukla from Kala Patthar through Namche.

Arrival in Kathmandu

You are gonna be received when you arrive at Kathmandu airport by one of our representatives, who then accompany you in an official tourist vehicle to your accommodation. Dinner and a night of lodging are planned at the hotel.

Day 02

Drive to Dhap, Trek to Japre: 6 hours drive/3-4 hours trek

Our guide gets you up from your Kathmandu hotel after breakfast. Driving to Dhap across Kathmandu requires 7-8 hours. The drive takes us into the Plains of the Terai area 31 miles away from the Indian border. In order to get to the trailhead, Dhap, within which we'll stay the night, the route departs the main highway and climbs a twisting, steep road.

The pathway quickly leaves the road and winds through a forest of spectacularly rich and bloomy rhododendrons, white sub-alpine plants. You can observe the endless views of the highlands of the earth's greatest mountainous range. You will start to truly appreciate strolling through the Sherpa homeland in the valleys, which have steep sides and terraced fields of rice and vegetables cut into the hillsides. A relaxing 5-7 hrs of the path hiking make up the day. It takes little time to go to Japre (2920 m/9580 ft), which rises over an enormous gorge and offers stunning vistas of Everest and the Numbur Himal. You'll stay a restful night at Japhre, a tranquil mountain village with a modest stupa and gompa.

Day 03

Trek from Japre to Pikey Base Camp: 6-7 hours trek

After Japre, the route moves up to grassland slopes at Bhulbhule. There is one unnamed lodge with lovely mountain peak views that change from here. Soon after Bhulbhule, the path forks, and Pikey Peak is to the right. You'll go by some former yak huts and a longer Mani Wall. The trail then descends into the ravine of Taklung Danda below, following a charming-looking woodland track. When you travel around in spring, you'll be able to observe the many rhododendrons in bloom. Once you reach the woods, it is only a brief distance about 2 hrs to Pikey Peak base camp. The journey to the top, at 4065 meters/13336 feet, only requires a brief ascent.

Day 04

Sunrise at Pikey Peak, Trek to Loding: 6-7 hours trek

To enjoy the stunning sunshine over Pikey Peak, get up early and then go to Loding. There will be prayer flags flying all along the short trek to the summit. The views are breathtaking! Assuming the sky is fine, you'll get to enjoy magnificent vistas that extend through Annapurna to Everest.

From the top point of Pikey Peak, you'll cross a hillside that commences flat and gets steeper once you approach the woods to Jase Bhanjyang, where food is ready. After breakfast, you're going to resume your trek along the wood's challenging terrain to lodging. In Loding, there are a few basic yet lovely hotel options.

Day 05

Trek from Lodging to Junbesi, Visit Thubtenchoeling Monastery: 5-6 hours trek

To kick off the day, descend down the hill to Jase Bhanjyang for breakfast. Upon departing there, you'll have numerous options regarding the descent to Junbesi. The most likely is a spectacular diversion into a superb old-growth woodland that emerges from the mountain shortly thereafter Jase and descends rapidly to Taktor. This route is crossed by the Jiri to Everest Base Camp track. From here, the tea houses are a little better, and you might run into a few other trekkers for the first time. To get to Junbesi has to hike for about 2 hours along a beautiful trail. The old Sherpa town of Junbesi, which is located at a height of 2,675 meters (8,776 feet), is regarded as the place where Sherpa traditions and craftsmanship first emerged. We’ll make a short stop and take a detour of Thubtenchoeling Monastery. The food and the weather will be a great combination during your stay at Junbesi.

Day 06

Trek from Junbesi to Taksindu: 5-6 hours trek

After a leisurely breakfast, we begin our 30-meter-long hike to Faplu by walking gently. After that, it will take us around 3 hours to walk to Ringmo, where we will halt for lunch. Following lunch, the trail ascends through the jungle; the shade will keep us comfortable as we walk. We continue along the path, passing a few houses and a stupa before arriving in Taksindu. Stay the night in a teahouse.

Day 07

Trek from Taksindu to Nunthala: 5-6 hours trek

On this day, we spend a few hours descending through the forest before stopping for lunch at Nun Thala. We take the rest of our day off and take a walk through the village in the evening. If the weather conditions are in our favor we’ll also get to observe fascinating mountain views. On this route, we pass a few villages before arriving at Nunthala. Sleep at the guesthouse.

Day 08

Trek from Nunthala to Kharikhola: 5-6 hours trek

On this day, we spend a few hours descending through the forest before stopping for lunch. Until the Khola, our trail continues to descend before ascending. At the end of today’s journey, we’ll find a village near the small river, named Kharikhola. On this route, we pass a few villages before arriving at Khari Khola. Sleep at the teahouse.

Day 09

Trek from Kharikhola to Paiya: 5-6 hours trek

After eating breakfast, we begin our leisurely stroll toward a small river. As we continue on our trail past bridges, forests, Buddhist monasteries, Mani (prayer wheels), and stone Chorten (Stupa in the mountain region of Nepal), we will encounter the Dudh Koshi River flows on our left. If the weather is clear, we may also be able to see Kusum Kanguru Peak (6367m) on the right side of the trail. Finally, we will reach Paiya village at an altitude of 2817 meters. Stay the night in a teahouse.

Day 10

Trek from Paiya to Phakding: 5-6 hours trek

About two and a half hours later, the trail leading to Chheplung starts to ascend. We find the Dudhkoshi River flowing on our left. As we continue on our voyage, we cross suspension bridges, monasteries, and dense forests. Mesmerizing mountain views will continue to bless us throughout the way as we move toward Phakding. Stay the night in a teahouse.

Day 11

Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar: 5-6 hours trek

The hike, which lasts around six hours, starts with views of a lovely river in motion, villages, forests, and waterfalls. We also cross the Khumbu region's tallest suspension bridge. Your break for lunch will be at Manjo or Jorsale halfway through. There is also a checkpoint for trekking permits. When they enter the permit, there is a brief break here as well. From Top Danda, which is close to Namche, we will also be able to glimpse Mount Everest on this day.

Day 12

Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar

During our brief stay in Namche Bazaar, we acclimatized to the high altitude before continuing our adventure. The bustling market area provided a wonderful immersion into the rich Sherpa culture, where we delighted in exploring local tea houses, charming restaurants, and various shops and trading posts. For those feeling adventurous, optional hikes to Sagarmatha National Park offered breathtaking vistas of majestic peaks like Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam, while also providing the opportunity to encounter rare flora and fauna. After an exhilarating day, we settled into a cozy hotel in Namche Bazaar, ensuring a restful night's sleep.

Day 13

Trek from Namche to Tengboche: 5-6 hours trek

Today, we make our way down to the Dhudhkosi River, where the trail meanders past a Sherpa town and a luxuriant rhododendron forest. Thereafter, it takes 1 hour and 30 minutes of strenuous climbing through the jungle to reach Tengboche. We visited Tengboche, the largest and most renowned monastery in the Khumbu region. The monastery is set against a breathtaking backdrop of the highest mountains in the world, including Ama Dablam, Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, Mount Nuptse, and Kongde.

Day 14

Day 14 : Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche: 5-6 hours trek

The trail is undoubtedly breathtaking, but it's also challenging at the moment. Following the Imja Khola, we ascend to the potato-dominated fields of Dingboche.

This is the most elevated Sherpa settlement situated in the Khumbu region. The views of Ama Dablam are breathtaking and dramatic from here, and we'll get to Dingboche in time for lunch. You can spend the remaining part of the afternoon reading a book or admiring the landscape of the adjacent mountains at your convenience.

Day 15

Acclimatization Day in Dingboche

A requirement for an additional day to adapt is essential due to the altitude's continual ascent. Today, there are many possibilities for brief treks.

One instance is going to the holy places and seeing the vistas of Mt. Makalu at the base of Nangkar Tshang Peak. Our muscles will adjust to higher heights that lie ahead of the trek up, lasting around 4-4.5 hours total trip.

Day 16

Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche: 4-5 hours trek

The journey starts today with a gradual ascent toward the Pheriche Valley. We go through yak farms and highland vegetation while we ascend from the valley floor. We can see Tawoch and Cholotse, and Ama Dablam, the mountains, is beyond us. From this point of view, the peak of Ama Dablam seems to be rising upwards from the bottom of the valley.

The trail continues to Thokla Pass, although the climb there is difficult. Panorama views of Nuptse, Lhotse, Lhotse Shar, and a few additional peaks with elevations of 7,000 meters or more make this location another photographer's dream!

We arrive in Lobuche after passing across the pass. Despite the fact that the city center doesn't seem very appealing, the spectacular and dramatic scenery in the area makes up for it.

Day 17

Trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep, day hike to Everest Base Camp and return to Gorak Shep: 7-8 hours trek

We set out on our hike early, embarking on an adventurous journey following the mesmerizing Khumbu Glacier route towards Gorakshep. The trail undulates, leading us through captivating ups and downs as we make our way to our destination. Upon reaching Gorakshep, we take a well-deserved short break to refuel with some delicious food.

Continuing our hike, the trail now runs alongside the majestic Khumbu Glacier for a couple of hours, guiding us steadily towards the pinnacle of our quest - Everest Base Camp. The anticipation builds as we approach this iconic location. Finally, our efforts are rewarded as we stand at the revered Base Camp, surrounded by awe-inspiring mountain peaks, the formidable Khumbu glacier, and the mesmerizing Khumbu icefall. The vibrant colors of tents set against the pristine snowscape create a breathtaking sight, momentarily making us forget the challenges of our arduous journey.

We take ample time to soak in the unparalleled beauty of the surroundings, cherishing the moment and creating memories that will last a lifetime. After an enriching experience at Base Camp, we begin our return journey to Gorakshep, where we settle in for the night, relishing the achievement and cherishing the unforgettable moments of our extraordinary adventure.

Day 18

Hike to Kala Patthar and Trek to Pheriche: 6-7 hours trek

We embarked on our hiking adventure early in the morning, tackling the challenging ascent out of Gorakshep and making our way towards Kalapatthar, meaning "black rock" in the local language. The journey took a couple of hours, but our determination paid off as we finally reached the summit of Kalapatthar, a mesmerizing vantage point for both sunrise and sunset.

At the top, a breathtaking 360° panorama unfolded before our eyes. The world's highest peaks, including the majestic Mount Everest, the formidable Nuptse, the impressive Lhotse, and the beloved Mt. Ama Dablam, stood proudly, creating an awe-inspiring sight. The close-up views of these iconic mountains were an experience to cherish.

As the morning sun bathed the Himalayas in warm light, we couldn't help but marvel at the beauty that surrounded us. The Khumbu glacier, a magnificent icy expanse, and the wide Khumbu valley lay below, adding to the grandeur of the scene. The sunrise from this vantage point was nothing short of magical, leaving an indelible mark on our memories.

After absorbing the natural wonders, we made our way back to Gorakshep, where a hearty breakfast awaited us, re-energizing us for the return journey. The descent to Pheriche was a chance to soak in the tranquility of the mountains and reflect on the incredible sights we had witnessed. We settled in for the night in Pheriche, grateful for the unforgettable experience of being amidst the world's highest peaks.

Day 19

Trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar: 6-7 hours trek

We set out early from Pheriche, beginning our journey by crossing a quaint small bridge and facing a short ascent before gradually descending towards Somare. Embracing the beauty of the Imja Khola valley, we traverse its course until we reach Pangboche. The trail leads us alongside the Imja river, where we are enveloped by the lushness of rhododendron and birch forests, making our way towards Debuche. An invigorating climb follows, guiding us to Tengboche, where we take a delightful break for lunch. The vistas that surround us during this trek back are simply enchanting and bring immense joy. Subsequently, we trek downwards to Phunkithanga, where we cross the suspension bridge over the Imja river before ascending back to Kyangjuma. A pleasant one-hour walk leads us to the picturesque Namche Bazaar, where we rest for the night, cherishing the memories of this remarkable journey.

Day 20

Trek from Namche to Lukla: 6-7 hours trek

We take a rocky trail downhill towards the Dudh Koshi River, crossing it and heading to Lukla via Monjo (Sagarmatha National Park entry and exit point). We walk downhill, crossing a suspension bridge over Bhote Koshi river, and continue to Phakding. From there, we ascend the trail until we reach Lukla. We rest our weary bodies and spend the night in a lodge.

Day 21

Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu: 40min.

We take a flight back to Kathmandu and upon arrival, have the option to explore the city and do some souvenir shopping. We organize a farewell dinner to celebrate the successful completion of the trek and exchange final greetings and wishes as you prepare for your final departure.
